Description\nChoices: Exploring the delicate relationship of our head ba
lancing on top of our spine we will begin with some gentle bodywork into m
ovement. We will then play with making choices in the dance. Choosing to r
espond or not so that we can notice more closely our reactions\, exploring
new possibilities of playful choice within the dance.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nClair
e Coveney\n\nI have always danced and feel a real need in me to move. I ha
ve also always been really inquisitive about others movement and the way I
can feel drawn to the way someone moves.\n\nI completed a degree in Dance
with Biology in 1994 from Roehampton Institute and danced mainly contempo
rary techniques until discovering contact improvisation around 2004 but at
the time didn’t really realise that was what this form was. At the time
I was training as an Alexander Technique teacher and found that I really
enjoyed exploring Alexanders ideas through a more improvised form. I have
been teaching the Alexander Technique since 2005 and love exploring this w
ork every time I dance and enjoy how the dance can be both fun and a way o
f learning more about myself.\nThe Jam\nA jam is an informal gathering of
dancers. There is no teacher\, but space and time to develop skills and co
nfidence. You are free to dance\, rest\, or sit and watch\, as you wish. T
he jam provides an opportunity to explore and integrate techniques you hav
e learned\, and to find your own routes into dancing.\n\nAt some jams a te
acher will facilitate a score to follow such as a focused (silent) jam\, t
he Underscore (developed by Nancy Stark-Smith)\, or a blindfold (or eyes-c
losed) jam\, this will normally be advertised via our regular mailout –
so sign-up if you want advance notice.\n\n	Live musicians will improvise w
ith the dancing at many of the jams.\n	For more information\, please email
info@contactdance.co.uk or contact the individual teachers.\n
