Fascia.\n\nThis class will explore the strength and support aspects of fas
cia through its tensile structure.\n\nFascia holds the possibility of acti
ve support through its contracting and expanding qualities.\n\nThe idea be
ing that by really getting in touch with this structural component of our
anatomy we can explore how to lift from a place flexible support.\n\n‘Du
e to its strong tensile nature\, fascia can mechanically transfer pulling
forces throughout the body. Indeed\, much of the stability of the body is
provided by fascia via what is known as the tensegrity model: tensegrity r
efers to the tensile (pulling) forces that hold structures in their approp
riate postures’ (from an article called: Body Mechanics by Joseph E. Mus
colino).\n\nBy reviewing briefly the flow\, bounce and connective aspects
of our fascia we may also make ourselves more able to be lifted by flowing
and bouncing in and of the ground.\n\nBut let’s see how far we get.\n\n
\nThe Jam\nA jam is an informal gathering of dancers. There is no teacher\
, but space and time to develop skills and confidence. You are free to dan
ce\, rest\, or sit and watch\, as you wish. The jam provides an opportunit
y to explore and integrate techniques you have learned\, and to find your
own routes into dancing.\n\nAt some jams a teacher will facilitate a score
to follow such as a focused (silent) jam\, the Underscore (developed by N
ancy Stark-Smith)\, or a blindfold (or eyes-closed) jam\, this will normal
ly be advertised via our regular mailout – so sign-up if you want adva
nce notice.\n\n	Live musicians will improvise with the dancing at many o
 f the jams.\n	For more information\, please email info@contactdance.co.uk
 or contact the individual teachers.\n
