 e intention for this year’s edition is to have the performance as a foca
 l point of the entire event\, and at the same time keeping it true to its 
 traditional free contact improvisation dance agenda. We have invited Jacqu
 eline McCormick to lead the morning Contact Improvisation and performance 
 activity and Ruth Janssen to facilitate lunchtime ContactKids activity.\n\

 ntion for this year’s edition is to have the performance as a focal poin
 t of the entire event\, and at the same time keeping it true to its tradit
 ional free contact improvisation dance agenda\, where participants can giv
 e themselves permission to play their heads and bodies off :)\nJacqueline 
 McCormick will lead the morning Contact Improvisation and Performance act
 ivity.\nJacqueline McCormick's own words " Here is taste of what I'm shari
 ng: Owning\, exploring and playing with the emotional configurations that 
 arise during being witnessed in our improvisation."\nRuth Janssen will fac
 ilitate lunchtime ContactKids *optional* activity - an opportunity to see 
 how much of Contact Improv can be incorporated into improvising with the c
 hildren.\nRuth offers "one hour\, lots of physical games for you and your 
 little one\, together. We move together as a group\, we dance\, we swim an
 d swoop\, we go upside down\, roll\, jump\, fall and run! "\n\nThe running
  format begins on Friday evening\, then continues for two long days on Sat
 urday and Sunday and a shorter day on Monday to finish the event at around
  5pm.\nThis co created time frame will include a mixture of jam time and t
 eaching time giving preference to open space exploration.\nPLAY! ENTERTAIN
 ! BE ENTERTAINED! PLAY!\nScores\, stage presence and aesthetics\, and poss
 ibly a performance sharing on one of the evenings are at the heart of us c
 oming together this year\, all this will be interspersed with time to expl
 ore the local and wonderful Oldbury Court Park as well as our own interest
 s.\nThe event is open to all levels of experience\, we encourage participa
 nts to bring their curiosities\, research and desires to the event as ther

 ous improvising musicians of the vibrant Bristol music scene to support pa

 !\n\nJacqueline McCormick USA/UK\n\n\nJacqueline has been teaching\, perfo
 rming and making dances for over thirty years\, directing and performing i
 n her company DanceAbout works that take a dancing journey through the out
 back of the self. She is fascinated by creating movement from sensation\, 
 especially in natural environments\, as captured in her dance films\; Sett
 le\, Spiral and most recently The Walk\, shot in Joshua Tree\, California 
 USA.\nJacqueline’s work is greatly influenced by her research into impro
 visation\, especially Contact Improvisation. Since 1990 she has taught Con
 tact Improvisation at numerous Contact Festivals and workshops throughout 
 the USA and Europe\, most recently at Italy Contact Festival 2016\, Los An
 geles USA\, and Bristol UK.\nAs Artistic Director for Cheshire Dance 2004-
 2016 Jacqueline created small to large-scale site-based works involving pr
 ofessional artists and communities. The Moment When… 2012 involved over 
 900 performers\, across 3 sites\, as part of the NW Cultural Olympiad cele
 brations. Jacqueline has an M.A degree in Dance from Mills College\, Calif
 ornia\, and was Associate Professor in Dance at Connecticut College\, USA 
 2000-2004\, and Western Oregon University 1985-1996.\n\nHere is her descri
 ption of what she will be offering:\n"The Emotional Body in Performance\n\
 nTapping into the ever flowing emotions that touch reveals in Contact Impr
 ovisation and performance.\nOwning\, exploring and playing with the emotio
 nal configurations that arise during being witnessed in our improvisation.
 \nExcavating the unconscious feelings that erupt\; fear\, that may keep us
  stuck from being present and limit our choices in the moment\, while also
  inviting the witness to really 'see' us.\nExercises that help us to conne
 ct and integrate emotions into our dancing and improvising. How to inhabit
  all experiences as they arise.\nWe will experience roles as mover and wit
 ness\, bringing attention to performing Contact Improvisation duets and en
 sembles using four forms\; breath\, continuous movement\, large/loud trave
 lling\, outbursts."\n\nRuth Janssen UK\n\n\nFor 15 years Ruth danced profe
 ssionally with some of Britain's leading dance makers\, touring extensivel
 y nationally and internationally\, and had work toured with dance and thea
 tre companies in Britain and Italy\, India and China\, Malta and Finland. 
 Ruth has worked for theatre companies Scottish Dance Theatre\, Dundee Rep 
 Ensemble\, Mad Dogs Dance Theatre\, Scarlattine Teatro and Gravity &amp\; 
 Levity amoung others. As a dance and yoga teacher\, Ruth has taught severa
 l professional dance companies regular company class including Scottish Da
 nce Theatre and Phoenix Dance Theatre\, and also guest lectured for vocati
 onal dance schools.\nRuth has practiced and taught Contact Improvisation a
 nd improvisation for over 10 years. When she heard about ContaKids it imme
 diately made sense to go and train with Itay Yatuv to bring it here to the
  South West. Ruth teaches pregnancy and postnatal yoga in Exeter\, and is 
 seeking to bring support and fun to familes with young children through mo
 vement\, dance and yoga.\n​\nCredentials / certifications:\n1st Class de
