DESCRIPTION:We are excited to be welcoming Nita Little to Bristol. An oppor
 tunity not to miss.\n\nPlease note that bookings are essential.\n\n\n\nThe
  informed Bodymind: Beyond dance/The invisible CI skills\nThis dance form 
 invites us to have a self-sense that extends spatially to include our part
 ners and our environment. Its skills ask for physical/mental states beyond
  our normative modes and modalities. And\, it stretches our understanding 
 of physicality and perception. The aim of this class is to increase our ab
 ility to act responsively through developing new physical and perceptual s
 kills that enhance our peripheral intelligence. By discovering new forms o
 f awareness we will learn to dance safely in a state that gives us an abil
 ity to read each ecological moment spatially and energetically. With the d
 ance as our teacher\, we will come to able to trust ourselves to meet each

 rapher\, performer\, and theorist in the field of ensemble improvisational
  dance and Contact Improvisation\, Nita Little is invited to work with dan
 cers on five continents. A (2014) PhD in Performance Studies from the Univ
 ersity of California\, Davis\, Little participated in the emergence and de
 velopment of Contact Improvisation in 1972 with Steve Paxton and Nancy Sta
 rk Smith. She has been exploring the embodied mind in the physics of motio
 n\, relational and creative action\, and the performance of presence ever 
 since. As a dance researcher she develops Research Laboratories devoted to
  the study of relational potentials through ensemble dance explorations in
  which the tactility of attention is an essential investigation.\n\nNita w
 orks with dancers and performers in numerous mediums and including stage\,
  site-specific investigations and film. She tours on a regular basis makin
 g work\, performing\, and teaching technical and creative skills for compa
 nies\, festivals and schools worldwide. Nita is a physical philosopher who
  has developed a movement pedagogy oriented around creative actions of the
  bodymind in dance. In 2016/17 you will find her choreographing and teachi
 ng in NYC\, Europe\, and South America.\n\n
