Starting close to the ground and building up through level s\, we develop confidence in our own abilities\; building trust in the bod y.\nBy researching in our solo movement the subtle mechanics of ‘small d ance'\, suspension &\; reaching\, we progress towards using momentum an d spirals to learn\, fluid ways to lift one-another through ‘catching a ride’. Working with the frame and structure of the arms\, we will explor e ways to connect to space and find counterbalance in the body\, providing frames to both lift and be lifted and offer structures to be explored. We will focus in on the details and technique of body tone\, alignment and s mall points of contact that help with finding lightness in being lifted an d efficiency in lifting.\nAs well as these specific focuses\, there will a lso be time given to more free exploration\, to integrate the material int o the dance naturally and organically.\nTechnique and Poetry.\nStructure a nd Freedom.\nPlayful Beings in Motion.\nAbout Hugh Stanier\nHugh is a move ment artist specialising in Improvisation &\; Contact Improvisation. He has over 16 years of teaching &\; performance experience. He began dan cing when he was 15\, training in Break dance and Contemporary. He went on to train at Northern School of Contemporary Dance\, graduating in 2008. S ince then he has worked with companies such as 2Faced Dance\, Tom Dale\, S TAN Won’t Dance\, and Ultima Vez.\nHe has taught C.I. intensives interna tionally at the Goa Contact Festival(2015-17)\, Berlin contact festival\, Soma Arts festival (Munich)\, Portugal Contact Gathering and the Goa Dance residency 2019 &\; 2020. Currently his main focus is organising &\; facilitating his own events and workshops.\nHe is also a qualified TMW (T ai Chi Movements for Wellbeing) facilitator.
