Emptying &Returning: Journeys of breath and imagination
“We breathe air, air breathes and buoys us. Breathing involves a continual oscillation between exhaling and inhaling, offering ourselves to the world at one moment and drawing the world in to ourselves at the next.”
Deepening into the pathways of breath and imagination, we shift our capacity to respond and deepen our perceptual awareness, moving into a fuller expression of ourselves. In this class we will begin by locating and orientating through breath and imagery. Through attentive touch and spacious moving time, we will trace and play with the meeting points of breath which bring us in and out of contact with another. A supportive space to un-do, re-imagine, re-awaken the body in movement in the solo and shared dance. All welcome!

A jam is an informal gathering of dancers. There is no teacher, but space and time to develop skills and confidence. You are free to dance, rest, or sit and watch, as you wish. The jam provides an opportunity to explore and integrate techniques you have learned, and to find your own routes into dancing.
At some jams a teacher will facilitate a score to follow such as a focused (silent) jam, the Underscore (developed by Nancy Stark-Smith), or a blindfold (or eyes-closed) jam, this will normally be advertised via our regular mailout – so sign-up if you want advance notice.
