Sat 2nd November
11:30 – 14:00
Fresh Dance & Arts Centre, 44-46 Greenbank Rd, Greenbank, Bristol BS5 6EY
This workshop does not focus on the strict form of contact improvisation. But it will introduce you to foundational practices that can support you to find more touch/movement possibilities and potentially a deeper, more personal connection to your contact improvisation dancing with others.
Why? – It could help us to tap into our deeper intentions and communications as we move together or meet each other through physical contact. Through demonstrating simple exercises alternating between words and body practices (in solo/partner/group) we can become aware of our own and each other’s intentions through staying embodied, while articulating our feelings, sensations, poetic images or other kinds of creative resources. These can be part of the communication and expression as much as the actual movement and touch between each other. Learning about this translation between words and touch/movement can help us relate better to our wishes, limits, preferences, and that of our dance partner, and help to let go of any assumptions that are not true which could inhibit our dancing. All of this contributes to more possibilities and a stronger empathic connection through our movements as we improvise through contact together.
Price: Early bird until 10th October £25 / Standard £35 / Supporter £45
