Class Description

Relating to the Bristol CI guidelines on ‘Safety’, specifically: “We encourage you to cultivate patient curiosity, and a soft and supple relationship with the floor.”

This class will be a focused exploration of movement that flows from the skull down the spine, called ‘Serpentine’ (Steve Paxton/Nancy Stark Smith). Following subtle multidirectional circles and spirals using the weight of the skull and the movement impulses of the spine, the dance flows into and grows out of the floor with softness and ease. With partners we will explore some duet possibilities listening to the skull and spine to lead into fluid dancing with momentum.
