I am leading the contact classes on the 16th and 23rd of July at the Willow Studio 7 – 9 pm. The classes are open to any one with an interest in contact improvisation, no previous experience is needed. Both classes will be accessible to visually impaired people. Class one: Tuning in: We will spend time becoming aware of and ‘tuning in’ to our senses and our dance. We will explore the tactile and auditory space around us. From here we will find ways of connecting with each other in the space. Working with a partner we will explore listening, reading, leading and following within our dance. During this class we will spend some time working with eyes closed.
Class two: (next week) pathways:We will explore some of the movement pathways available to us when dancing in contact with our partner. Using rolling and surfing we will find the ‘over’ and ’under’ in the dance. We will then work from the point of contact to find our own pathways in the dance. There will be time for open jamming toward the end of the class.
