WHAT IS CONTEMPLATIVE DANCE?
Contemplative Dance Practice was originated by Barbara Dilley at the Naropa University in Bolder, Colorado, USA. The practice brings dance and Tibetan Buddhist practice together to create a simple but strong container to work both artistically and creatively with the art of living.
This practice is divided into 3 parts:
1. Sitting meditation- connect with your inner self.
2. Solo movement- personal space to warm up.
3. Open space- time to feel ourselves in realtion to others, sometimes moving and sometimes witnessing the movers.
