Ecstatic contact-connection Dance!
Are you into Ecstatic Dance, Contact Improvisation or both?
Following their sell-out debut in March 2024, Asher & Pete are delighted to present the latest incarnation of E c-c D. Born from a shared love of both practices and a desire to grow these practices together in the community.
It’s an opportunity to explore new ways to connect on the dance floor – to develop skills, discernment and experience-based courage connecting with self and others in both Contact Improv & Ecstatic Dance practices.
A chance to relate your movement to music in a refreshing new way.
The Contact Improv for Ecstatic Dance workshop with Asher, will be followed by a Contact Improv-friendly, music-led Ecstatic Dance open floor with Pixi Pete.
Whether or not you are an experienced Contact Improviser. or Ecstatic Dancer, this is a place to develop your multi-dimensional practice or discover it, and then to combine these beautiful practices on the open floor of Ecstatic Dance

What to expect:
Contact Improv for Ecstatic Dance workshop: 10.30am – 1pm
Appropriate for beginners to advanced, The C.I workshop will cover embodied relational skills, as well as exploring C.I body physics. Prior to connecting in focused scores with others, the workshop will start by developing your creative, honest, aware connection with self, different parts of your body and the space around you. We’ll enjoy the spaces and non-touch connections between beings. Exploring skills of coming into physical contact with another, you’ll deepen your presence to embodied, creative, moving physical relating. There will be spacious qualities within the intimacy. You’ll also gain confidence in your awareness of boundaries. As well as lighter, lyrical scores, you’ll safely experience sharing some body weight and offering support within dance. Finally, we’ll open up beyond 1-2-1 into constellations of several beings, combining awareness of our own dance vibe with consciousness of the whole evolving co-created happening.
Ecstatic Dance open floor 2.30pm – 4.45pm
Coming together in an opening circle to welcome All. There will be a warm-up and embodiment to reconnect to the space, self and each other. We will then move on, to the music-led Ecstatic Dance open floor where, with some light facilitation, you’ll move and dance freely in the space, going on your journey with & in the presence of the whole constellation of all present.
The invitation is to deepen and broaden your movement practice while being aware of the whole co-creation, having a place to be creative to explore your own authentic range of movement and emotions. The Ecstatic Dance will be accompanied by expertly DJ’d recorded music, and live percussion.
A live music inner journey . 4.45pm-5.15pm
Pixi Pete will lead this inner journey to integrate the day’s adventures. With hang drum and other instruments, he will calm and ground you, bringing your spirit being and earth body into one. You’ll be ready for your journey to continue, taking the day’s treasures with you, beyond the dance floor.
Closing Circle 5.15pm to 5.30pm

Drinks: A range of hot drinks are freely available. Cacoa will be for sale.
Please bring a water bottle to bring into the space.
Snacks: Please bring some snacks to keep your energy high.
Lunch: Please bring your own lunch. It is possible to heat food in the kitchen.
