Movement Ritual is a set of natural and organic movement sequences developed by American dance pioneer Anna Halprin. The primarily floor-based sequences focus on the spine, improving flexibility, strength, inner connection and kinaesthetic awareness. Through individual and pair work we explore basic components of Movement Ritual. We develop these creatively in dance explorations inspired by Anna’s Three Levels of Awareness (physical, emotional, imaginal) and Itta’s artistic interests. Movement experiences are reflected on through drawing (art materials provided).
Itta trained intensively with Helen Poynor, Dorset who introduced her to Movement Ritual. This summer Itta studied with Anna Halprin (now in her 91st year) on Anna’s famous outdoor dance deck at Mountain Home Studio, California.
