A day of Contact Improvisation with Zoe Solomons and Jocasta Crofts.

We would like to offer you some new pathways through the body, to discover, explore and play with. This will offer new movement patterns in our dances together. We will be working with the upper and lower body centres, linking them together in an embodied knowing and being of the body dancing; opening into creative play and exploration, that may surprisingly take you up.

Bios:

Zoë is a dancer/mother/teacher/Osteopath and activist. Zoë has been been practicing and performing improvisation since 2000 and considers it a life practice as well as a professional skill. She has performed for Felix Ruckert, Tino Seghal and Simonetta Alessandri among others. Zoë qualified to teach Axis Syllabus universal motion principles in 2008, when teaching she combines this knowledge with anatomical understanding from her work as an osteopath with dancers and athletes. She has taught at major dance centres and schools and festivals in the U.K. and internationally. Her eclectic training in medicine, bodywork and nature based practices and a dance background including improvisation, tango, folkdance and contemporary inform her embodied approach to functional movement pedagogy.

Jocasta has been dancing and teaching for 25 years. She spent 3 years in the Somatic Dancers Education in Dance Improvisation at Outokupmu, Finland. She is a Somatic Movement Educator (SME) and Infant Movement Educator (IDME) through the School of Body Mind Centering. She performed with circus and dance improvisation for 10 years. Jocasta is a body worker and healer, teaches kids yoga, baby massage and is a tantra teacher. Currently, she is studying Fine Art at Bath Spa University.

Jocasta is a Creative. She loves mediation in movement, sound, silence and stillness. Her passion is being an embodied being, expressing ourselves naturally as a human animal in all our intuitive, reflexive intelligence is what she wishes to bring to the dance. She is playful, spontaneous and has a daft sideways wisdom.
