Bristol Contact Improvisation ‘Music making Contact’

led by David Leahy

co-ordinated by Lisa May Thomas and Saskia Chaplin

Sunday October 7th, 10am – 4.30pm, just £15 for the day

A workshop based on exploring the connection between music and movement, and, in particular, improvised movement styles such as Contact improvisation. Open to both movers and music makers at any level, we research together what works and what doesn’t when collaborating across artforms. Identifying our various needs and finding possible ways towards clearer communications and better collaborative experiences.

Trained as a professional double bass player, David has over the years extended his improvisation practice to include dance. His performance practice is now equally divided between the two artforms and he has worked with dancers such as Frey Faust, Nancy Stark-Smith, Geraldo Si and Claire Filmon, and musicians such as Evan Parker, Tony Marsh, Tony Kofi, Roland Sutherland and Mike Vargas. Check out his website www.dafmusic.com.
